I am picking up a new plasma cutter and was wondering which torch is easier to use with the table, the hypertherm180 mini machine torch, or the Hypertherm Duramax lock machine torch?
The price is only a $5 difference and I only plan to use this torch for cnc opertations.
Cant say one way or the other, but the duramax torch i put on my Hypertherm works amazing. Good luck with your purchase!
I would go duramax torch
I have the mini. It is also a Duramax torch. No different in specs other than the length of the torch head, and the mini has no gear rail. Not sure if gear rails are used much anymore. Lead screws are the norm for THC these days. The mini was about $50 buck cheaper and a little less weight which I thought might be helpful for the Crossfire’s cantilevered X axis, especially if a THC is added later. If the standard torch was the same price, I may have just done that instead for the sake of having what is typical for machine torches.
